I know many of you have questions about the situation with Berwick Hospital, which is now due to be completed in 2028.

This delay is extremely disappointing. However, there is now a clear plan to completion, and I wanted to share the latest information from the Trust.

Remedial works will begin on site next week. This phase will involve removing some mechanical and electrical systems, pipework, internal walls and fittings. From late November, work will start to remove and replace the façade and steel frame system.

The main structural steelwork will remain in place with remedial works due to be completed by next spring.

Most of the work should be completed by summer 2028.

The significant delay has had an impact on the cost of the build, but the Trust has financial plans in place to meet this.
