I’m delighted that Northumberland County Council (NCC) will get £100m more than expected from Labour in a new funding deal. This means more money for schools, streets, and parks.

David Smith MP has today backed the Labour Government’s plan to deliver faster, cheaper and more reliable buses with £75m funding for the North-East Combined Authority.  

Today I asked the Government to look at other IHT options to protect local farmers. They need stability and want fairness.

The MP for North Northumberland has welcomed a £150 cut in energy bills and other announcements in the 2025 Budget to help local families.

People will understandably be disappointed by the revocation of the Development Consent Order (DCO) – confirmed earlier this year. However the reality is that dualling was never going to happen under the last Government.

With a strong focus on prevention, rapid rehousing, and improved support for people experiencing the worst forms of homelessness, we can genuinely consign homelessness to the history books.

I am glad to see the government being proactive and encouraging farmers to continue or begin the transition to more sustainable practices. This should support more food, of a higher quality, produced and eaten in this country.
